The Flash’s ninth season will also conclude the Arrowverse, which began with Arrow in 2012. Multiple familiar faces from other Arrowverse series will be making an appearance in Season 9 of The Flash. One of them will be Javicia Leslie, who starred in the second and third seasons of Batwoman as Ryan Wilder/Batwoman. Nicole Maines will reprise her role as Dreamer/Nia Nal from Supergirl, and David Ramsey will also appear as John Diggle from Arrow. Earlier this month, it was announced that Stephen Amell will return as Oliver Queen in the final season. During The Flash’s first six seasons, Oliver was a mentor to Barry. Barry was by Oliver’s side, along with Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), when he died in ”Crisis on Infinite Earths.”

Superman & Lois season 1 included plenty of action and twists. And, along with a focus on Morgan Edge (Adam Raynor) as the main antagonist, the Arrowverse series also brought in other baddies and baddies-turned-reluctant allies. It’s an approach that will continue into the show’s second installment. But, in a significant way, as revealed by showrunner Todd Helbing, the upcoming episodes will see a shift.
Speaking with SFX Magazine to promote Superman & Lois season 2, which will kick off January 11 on The CW, Helbing teased that the trend of multiple villains will continue. He noted that though the baddies won’t be working together, they do hand off to one another. He added that one of the antagonists will be focused on Superman, while the other will be a “Lois villain.” Helbing concluded by saying that these villains, unlike those of the first season, will require even more strength to get rid of. “There are multiple villains, really. Both villains affect Clark and Lois personally. We start out with one villain that is really more Superman, while setting up the Lois villain. They are not working together, but they hand off in a cool way this season. One of them comes to the forefront and, in a lot of ways, is more powerful than the other one. It will take the whole team, in a different way than last year, to stop this person.”

An official synopsis for The Flash‘s eighth season has yet to be released due to the “Armageddon” event, however, we do know some plot details starting with the synopsis for part one of the five episode crossover:

Clearly Barry, the rest of Team Flash, and the Arrowverse’s proto-Justice League are going to be in for a fight that’ll once again put their lives on the line. It seems like these heroes are always a stone’s throw away from ruin but once the dust settles over this big battle, Team Flash will have a another fight on their hands, this time a season long one concerning Iris.In the final episodes of season 7, Iris contracted a type of time sickness that resulted in her passing in and out of temporal planes. While Deon aka The Still Force was able to stabilize her for the time being, showrunner Eric Wallace told TVLine that the team would be in it for the long haul in terms of finding a solution. Solving Iris’ time sickness is a huge, huge part of the entire season, and it will take all season to solve that.
